To Infinity and Beyond

Welcome, and hello! Since things have taken quite a bit of a turn for the interesting I thought I'd update everyone on the recent happenings and occurrences during the College Program.

Had a few difficulties and forthcomings with the management team, specifically a management intern. Tried to make the most of every moment, turning them into opportunities. The end resolution was not a positive experience, which I would never wish upon anyone in any situation whatsoever.

The experience in the last week was quite different from what I expected, which began upon my return to my normal work location (after a several day leave) on Monday, September 2, 2013. Management made the personal decision to take away my Company ID, making a point that I was allowed to keep my housing ID for the time being.

On Wednesday September 4, 2013 I was contacted by Management, and told to bring my costumes in. I brought all of my costumes from the past several weeks including from other costuming facilities. They decided to sit me down, reprimand me once again, which they then followed-up with a termination of my program.

With this decision made, I was informed that I would need to remove myself and my belongings from the housing complex at 11AM by the following day, Thursday September 5, 2013; Meaning I'd have less than 24 hours to pack and move all of my personal belongings. That evening I visited the Programs and Internships office at Chatham Square for the third time to have several questions answered regarding my leave from the program. The main concern was in regards to housing, mainly in the concern of housing payment and my departure. The answers were that I would still be charged for the remainder of this week, and have housing taken out of my rent for my final paycheck as well, and I would be have to be gone with all of my housing items turned in by 11PM the following day.

The morning of Thursday, September 5, 2013 at 9PM I turned in my Housing ID, Decal, and Apartment Key, driving into the sunset.

This is just my perspective on things, and doesn't necessarily mean that all College Programs take this route, some just have more unique experiences and happenings than others. At the end of everything, there's an opportunity to look at everything in a positive light and to Keep Moving Forward.

When September Comes

Hello, my wonderfully amazing guests! I hope you lot are doing well.

Things have been quite hectic, and frantic recently with everyone working 6-day weeks. I just finished up a 55-hour week, which wasn't too bad as it kept me busy, yet tired. Just finished up a shift at my favourite place on Main Street, which I thoroughly enjoyed, including the company of those that are around me.

Overall, August hasn't been the most pleasant of months this year thus far given how it's gone, but there's still opportunity for it to turn around. So many things have happened, and not happened in such a period of time that it's been a lot for me.

We look forward to September, and all that it brings including shorter park hours, shorter days, and more time available to ourselves. There's also a few nice events coming up including Friday the 13th, as well as the park closing early due to reservations of the entire park.

Living in the now, and enjoying it.

Have a Magical Day!

Pros & Cons

Good Morning wonderful people! While I'm taking care of quite a few things, I thought I'd give the pros and cons of my Disney College Program thus far, based upon personal experiences.

Pros

  • Independence
  • Having the opportunity and ability to visit the Walt Disney World Resort on a daily basis, including free admission to the parks
  • Certain discounts and perks of being a Cast Member, including discounted admission to holiday parties, cast previews, and such
  • Access to the Cast Service Center which has media resources available for check-out
  • Working and Living at the Most Magical Place on Earth, with others that have the same appreciation.
  • Opportunity to meet new people, and network with others, if possible.

Mid-line
  • Location. location. location. Depending on where you're placed can either make or break your entire program. If the management truly cares about the College Program experience, beyond work needs, then it will be wondrous. There's a variety out there.
  • Sociability with others. The social opportunities are many, from work to bus rides to other things as well. Everyone makes personal choices such as partying nightly, and those are the type of friends they make. Find people where you like doing things the most.
  • Friends, they come in all different shapes and sizes. There's some that you'll see every so often, and some that you'd rather not ever see again. There's some that truly care to build upon a friendship, and some that think they're the high school 'popular' kids. Appreciate those that stick around.
  • Relationships. I've heard amazing stories of people meeting their significant other on their program, who was a friend's roommate. Personally, I've discovered that it can go both ways as there's relationships to grow from. Just enjoy the relationships with those that you have, and keep those around that support you and make you happy.
  • Deployment, following up with location. Being deployed can give you multiple opportunities to work at different locations.
  • Guests.
  • Freedom. It's a use-it or abuse-it situation which is a personal choice. You can either follow the rules that are set out in a work/personal environment, or don't. The choice is yours.
  • Roommates. There's the awesome roommates that bond throughout their program and enjoy each other's company, and the others that don't take the time. There's the decision to be a mature adult and take care of your own messes, or leave it long enough that someone will do so. You may have situations that may not be suitable at times, and things you may have to address. Use your imagination at the rest, but just try to pick people you'll enjoy your time with.
  • Requested Time Off. If you need a certain day off, it's simple enough to request it off. If you've got an even nicer manager, they'll figure a way to give you those special days off such as your birthday. Albeit, most of the time during holidays (December) everyone is 'waitlisted' until further notice due to the need of the holidays.

Cons

  • Late hours, Long days. Many people get sick and rundown because they have no time to take time for themselves.
  • Unreliable busing system, with buses constantly showing up late or not at all.
  • Florida's Hot and Humid weather
  • Housing. You essentially pay ~$100 a week to share a room with someone you've most likely never met before. You've to deal with security on a daily basis, some of whom are quite rude. You're not allowed to visit other housing complexes after-hours, although you pay rent like everyone else to the same exact housing companies. Monthly inspections, which are now surprises, and if failed you have to pay a fine. The housing has been mal-maintained over the several years, and has continually deteriorated to the point where things are failing.
  • The 'Point' system. Feeling Sick and need to call out? You get a full point. Tired after that long day and forget to completely clock out? You receive half a point. There's little forgiveness and leniency.
  • Missing a semester or more of school. I've constantly been asked by guests and managers alike as to why I gave up a solid future to be here.
  • Emotions. Depression, homesickness, and everything else imaginable while being away from home.
  • Paychecks. They will be very small, unless you're working 50+ hours due to housing and other 'costs' being removed from your paycheck. Double check that you're being paid correctly as well.
  • Holidays spent working.

Update August 8-16

Hello, wonderfully awesome people! It's been quite the week this past week. Just wanted to give a quick update on everything to give an idea of what's been going on.

Recently since the Spring Program just ended (extensions) the good majority of College Program students departed. I lost a lot of wonderful friends, and even more wonderful international friends who all want me to come visit them at home soon.

In the past week, personally I've accomplished:
  • Went to go visit Rapunzel, and the other princesses in the Town Square Theater Princess Hall. Waited in standby the first time, visited Ariel, Rapunzel, and Belle. Rapunzel was who I was waiting to visit the most, as I had brought Pascal along with me once again. Rapunzel asked if she could have him, and started playing with him as I handed my phone to the photopass gentleman. She grabbed me, and started asking me a bunch of questions as she told me not to move, as she set pascal on my shoulder, after taking him off of hers. She asked what my favourite hiding spot was and what I liked doing, which I couldn't exactly think of, and ended up saying "adventuring in the great wide somewhere" randomly enough, which she told me to ask Belle about. We talked for a bit longer, then she posed next to me. We got a few photos together, then she gave me a big hug.
  • Visited Wes at work before his vacation later this week, as he showed me around a bit. Definitely an excellent evening speaking with him.
  • Walked quickly to the Faerie meet and greet in hopes of seeing Vidia, which was unfortunately closed before the entire park was closed. Walked back over to the princess hall, and saw Rapunzel, Aurora, and Cinderella. Cinderella made my night even better by running around me, and grabbing my hands, putting one on her waist, and another in her hand to waltz.
  • Began planning and scheduling out my friends' three day visit from back home, as she's never been to Walt Disney World!
  • Ordered the new Oswald the Lucky Rabbit plush from the Disney Store. As well, I ordered the journal from the Designer Disney Prince & Princess line that was announced at Disney D23 earlier this month, which was the Rapunzel and Flynn book. I debated on the mug, but decided since my Peter Pan mug is still just sitting, that I'd hold off on it.
  • Had a few other fun 'outings' with other friends in my spare time, which I enjoyed. Just hoping I get to know people better, and meet new people!
Work-wise, quite the variety:
  • Had a little boy today, who was as cute as ever. His mother had asked me for some help with cels since she couldn't understand the deaf gentleman who was working the gallery on his own. I explained everything to her, and answered any questions she had. Her little boy she was holding just started up the funniest conversation with me. I walked her over to our counter to get her information about the cels she was inquiring about for orders, and her little boy started telling me about how he loved the train set we had on display and how the "Princess Castle Kingdom" was his favorite park. Steph just walked over, and absolutely ogled over the entire conversation as we both saw his eyes just light up. His mom unfortunately slowly ushered him out, but he was just so bright and animated talking about how the train was his favorite. Made my otherwise interesting week better.
  • Sat down by one of the part-time managers who decided to speak to me (attack) about a few things she had "concerns" with, which included me going and informing the program about my work location not being supportive as well as problematic more than anything else. The manager sat there for nearly an hour, being derogatory during our "conversation". She made such remarks such as "you just so conveniently had light duty come up" and "if your life was so perfect back home, why did you come here?" amongst many others. Overall, it was an unproductive and negative conversation that just went full circle, and more or less proved the reasons why I went to the programs office in the first place, to take care of these issues and be proactive about the situation.
  • Took the opportunity to talk with my Manager Lynette on August 15 about what had previously happened with the other manager. I also took the opportunity to explain to her what I'd like out of my program, and what opportunities I'd like to have including shadowing a few coordinators and managers. More than anything, I think it would be really amazing if the managers/College Program Liaisons could put together a monthly event to let CP's explore beyond their work area, such as backstage tours, and other Cast-exclusive events that other areas have been allowed. I also have several ideas for our Magical Moments that I'm going to bounce off of our interns, which she fully supported since they need a bit of improvement beyond "go play with a bubble gun" as they need to memorable and funny/significant enough that guests will remember it throughout their entire trip, or beyond!
That's just a glimpse of what my past week has been beyond the 50+ hour weeks, 6 days a week due to the current situation, but it's still been interesting. Thankfully enough since August 5th, we have had more College Program participants check-in which has been nicer as we have newer people to talk to.

More than anything it will take time, but I'll at least appreciate spending time with those that I enjoy it around. Appreciate those that are around you, and the moments that you've got. We Keep Moving Forward!

Challenges & Opportunities

Apologies on the sparse updates, things have been quite hectic as of late with the Spring program ending, and the Fall program beginning.

Over the past week I have had quite a few obstacles and challenges, which I've tried addressing as best as anyone new to any situation can. I have found more than anything else that if these challenges are addressed appropriately to the proper people, that they can then be addresses properly and become opportunities in the grand scheme.

As I was told earlier this evening, it is quite understandable that we are all thrown into such a mess of things all at once, and after coming from afar, it's a lot to handle all at once.

I think I've learned quite a bit over the short amount of time I've been here, and hopefully I can use it to improve ways of life.

I may or may not delve further into the known problematic situations for resolution, as they are always there, but I believe that we need to put the past behind us and to not settle upon what has happened as a forthcoming to what will occur. Keep Moving Forward.

Peter and Alice

Evening, wonderfully beautiful people!

We just recently lost a bunch of wonderfully awesome College Program Cast Members, who were at the end of their Spring Program. There were so many wonderful people that made such a big difference for all of us, and made our days that much more unique. Beyond anything, you don't realize things until they truly happen to you and fully experience the changes.

Yes, it may take a while for everyone to readjust, and just a forewarning to anyone coming down for the Fall program... Not very many people are going to be welcoming right away. Just give everyone some time before things lighten up.

Another quick update on the ongoings in Walt Disney World, with a few stories:

  • Woke up at 1PM on Wednesday, and finally got moving at 5PM to EPCOT in search for Andrew and Hali Ducote. Went to the Magic Kingdom afterwards to find my wonderfully favourite Princess Rapunzel. Ended up in the Ariel room, and ran across a gal who would not stop asking me questions about entertainment. We then went to take a trip to Pixie Hollow where there was no line during fireworks and I FINALLY met Vidia, who was grabbing me. I had to fight Vidia to tell her I liked her more, and she said she likes her mostest. Tink and Vidia both called me "Panman" since I was wearing green, as I planned on finding the Ducotes. Headed to Ariel's area to meet her in Fantasyland, where I ran into one of the other Attendants that I know. Went to Pete's Silly Sideshow to visit Goofy, Donald, Daisy, and Minnie. Headed back to the Princesses in Town Square to visit Rapunzel, whom I finally got her room! Excellent day overall, and I loved all the unique encounters.
  • Thursday's (second to last) class was spent at Disney's Animal Kingdom first thing in the morning with Lyanne and Jessica. Our goals were Merchandise, Food & Beverage, and Operations as Guest Service Managers. Merchandise was Island Mercantile, Food & Beverage was a visit to Restaurantosaurus, and our Operations visit was to Dinosaur. The funniest part of the day was riding Dinosaur with 5 girls, as the one next to me was scared to death and said she'd probably end up holding my hand. Visited Jeff at Pizzafari to finish up, and ended class nearly an hour beforehand. Lyanne was hungry, and Jess couldn't eat so Jess and I went on Kilimanjaro Safaris which was different than what I remember. Dropped Jess off, picked up Coffee, and went to work.
  • Friday was an interesting day... Woke up fairly early waiting around Future World to visit my friend Mary Poppins, whom I must say was absolutely brilliant. She held my hand for a bit, which was adorable, and I received a few photos of her in her dress with her parasol. Rode Space Ship Earth, then drove over to Hollywood Studios. Spent the rest of my evening up until 7pm walking around the Studios and visiting Indiana Jones, Writer's Stop, and Star Tours during the day. Worked stock until 1AM with the loveliest of gals, and gave Emma a ride home.
  • Saturday, slept in a bit and worked stock once more until 10pm. Interesting story of a Manager randomly starting up conversation telling me how he use to work Main Street, and how he'd go back in a heartbeat, but to make the most of it... to me of all people. We're really feeling everyone being gone, as Thursday/Friday were everyone's last days here... :(
Just continuing to live life to the fullest and making the most of every opportunity I receive. I'm always open to any and all questions, as we're all curious around here!

Have a Magical Day!

Perfectly Pianist

Tuesday, July 30 (Day 70)

Quite an interesting day today!

  • Woke up at 7AM to take a trip to Wal-Mart shopping, then Wawa for gas
  • Ran into my roommate walking home from his sunrise visit to Disney's Animal Kingdom, then took a nap while waiting for everyone else to wake up
  • Drove everyone to Sam's Club where I ordered my birthday cake (and cupcakes) for my birthday next week, then went shopping. Ran into the Spring DCP graduation on the way to and from Sam's Club which was occurring in the field in our apartment complex. Dropped everything off then got ready to go to Animal Kingdom.
  • Arrived at Animal Kingdom Costuming/Rehearsal Hall after meeting a friend (who works at Hollywood & Vine) for auditions, which went over quite well. Waited for the bus to Animal Kingdom, which took a while as the last drove off just as I was walking outside.
  • Made it to Animal Kingdom, and showed two girls who were easily lost exactly where Animal Kingdom was. Decided on visiting the Art of Animation resort since there was no listed Hollywood Studios bus, which just so happened to be driving off right as I made my decision. Walked farther down to realize that there was in actuality a Hollywood Studios bus.
  • Arrived at Hollywood Studios shortly before 7PM, and headed straight towards left block to find my friend, since I wanted to surprise her. Come to find that she hadn't had the greatest evening so far, albeit she had just started about an hour ago. We talked for a bit, and I helped her translate for a guest, which she greatly thanked me for.
  • Walked over to the Sorcerer's Hat to get a few photos on my phone, then headed over to the ABC Commissary to say hello to Jenn, who was ecstatically surprised to see me. We talked on and off for a bit while she helped guests, and I told her I'd stop by soon to do dinner. Received a text from Kate saying she was arriving at the Magic Kingdom, and to just let her know.
  • Took a detour to Writer's Stop to see who was in, and then went back to left block to say bye to my friend who seemed happier. :)
  • Caught a bus to the Contemporary, made several pin stops, then stopped in the arcade to say hello to my flatmate Alex who was working. Caught the monorail the the Grand Floridian after a nice conversation with a few guests.
  • Made a stop in the Grand Floridian Lobby for several photographs of the lobby, then sat in the main hall listening to the Pianist Wes. It's always wonderfully relaxing which is why I made the stop. I requested "Mary Poppins" as I wanted to get a video for a special friend of mine, as I know he does excellent job with all requests. He played a wonderfully unique rendition of Mary Poppin's "Jolly Holiday" which flowed nicely into the next, "Chim Chim Cher-ee"  and finally flowed into the rest. I offered him my thanks, but he turned it down and discovered that I was a Cast Member. He then played even more Mary Poppins "Spoonful of Sugar", and finished off with the Second Concerto.
  • Spent some time after his instrumental talking to Wes while he was closing up the piano, and he asked a little bit more about me as I introduced myself since he remembered me. I made the decision that I'll be coming back next Tuesday, on my birthday to come listen to him play! The very last words we exchanged were in terms of me compliment his talent and abilities playing piano, which he quickly replied, "It's never too late to learn". I walked about the rest of the lobby and to the upper monorail floor with a giant smile on my face, as it absolutely made my day.
  • Arrived at the Magic Kingdom, which currently had the very first Main Street Electrical parade going on. I stopped in the Town Square theatre to see the princess wait as I wanted to visit Rapunzel once again. Walked through Main Street East to bypass the Main Street Electrical, and while walking through the HUB I was hit in the head by one of the Parade Audience Control Cast Members who wasn't paying attention to giving directions. Walked through the second entrance to Tomorrowland, then back through the HUB which was a nightmare for all those trying to wait for Fireworks as everyone was yelling. Made it through Liberty Square, and followed the parade until Big Thunder Mountain.
  • Met Kate and her friend at Big Thunder, and we walked to Pirates of the Caribbean which was unfortunately closed. We then went on Jungle Cruise which wasn't too great thanks to a long hold and technical microphone difficulties. When we got off of Jungle, Wishes was already going. Got spit on by a camel while walking behind Kate through Adventureland, then walked to Fantasyland via Frontierland and Liberty Square. Oddly enough it was 'raining' by Columbia Harbour House. We watched the rest of Wishes between Peter Pan and Small World which had fireworks on both sides, and quite a bit of smoke with ash, but still really different.
  • Rode Peter Pan, and walked through the rest of Fantasyland to Starbucks on Main Street where they both received water. Walked through the Confectionery, and exited the park taking the trail to the Contemporary resort. Said goodbye to Kate and her friend, who it was really nice seeing as it had been quite a bit. We hadn't had much time to catch up, but time well spent.
Overall, a very successful evening having visited nearly 3 parks in one day, plus two resorts. Wonderful perspective today, and it was really nice seeing a good lot of friends. I'm definitely looking forward to what the future holds!

Have a Magical Day!

Another Quick Update

Good Morning, wonderful people!

Apologies for the delays between posts, as things have been quite busy. Since I last posted, I've been to aplenty of places. In the past few weeks, I've accomplished the following:
  • Visited Health Services once more, and was put on heavier restrictions. Walked through EPCOT to catch a guest bus to the Studios, and clocked in on time. Gave my new restrictions to one of the managers who forced me to work the stocking shift I was scheduled, which I was given an ER for after the Area Manager nearly "flipped" out.
  • Placed on Light Duty for two weeks after, which included basics, Character Attendant, and Main Entrance Operations; All of which I have excellent stories from
  • Figured out the EPCOT "transportation" system to get around. My very first visit was trekking through EPCOT, which I got lost going through a ballroom-esque hall near the International Gateway (IG), and promptly ended up in the Character Entertainment training spot. Another interesting visit was my most recent visit, after visiting the modified duty office which included a trek to the International Gateway (IG) to then catch a boat to the Studios and then promptly be told I would be given the day off without pay.
  • My favourite out of anything I've done thus far would have to be Character Attendant. The Cast Members that work Entertainment are so kind to each other, it's honestly unbelievable from where I'm usually at. I received more Guest Service Fanatic Cards (GSF) in the past two weeks than I have during my entire program. It's called appreciation and praise, my friends.
  • Picked up my first Extra Hours Hotline (EHH) shift at Downtown Disney, Zone 3, Art of Disney! Super nice lot there, and I received a Guest Service Fanatic card for being so flexible, as well as given a reference. I may possibly be picking up a Main Street East shift the day after my birthday.
  • Continuing on the course of my Leadership course which is very interesting, and fun. I loved our visit to the Magic Kingdom the other week for essentially a Disney Heritage class tour.
  • Made more Magical Moments than I can recall, mainly working at Downtown Disney as they're super open there with the freedom an all.
  • Took a visit through the movies on the Great Movie Ride to see one of my favourite baddies, who hijacked a vehicle or two.
Personally, as I'm sure there's some curiosity out there...
  • Finally uploaded all the pictures from my Camera cards, which are now up-to-date. Next will be my phone, as the Monster's 24-hour day photos are on there.
  • Met my future wife, Rapunzel who was absolutely fantastic to speak with. She really is quite lovely. :)
  • Had a few stressful days this past week as my phone was shut off by my father, but quickly resolved by me improvising a few things. I'll now be paying my phone bill, which makes my budget a bit tighter. I've thankfully been staying on track of keeping things updated, which I'll be tightening more.
  • Broke-up with my 'girlfriend' for reasons beyond my control, which she's still quite mad at me about.
  • Making the most of the days that I've got as I'm back doing the same thing day-in and day-out of sleep, work, repeat. I really wish I was given the opportunity for deployment or being sent to different areas that needed help, as I really do love a variety.
  • Beginning to get back on a workout routine of running and exercising as it really helps with all the stress I've been having on a regular basis. The last time I did so was before I got together with my 'girlfriend'.
  • Started making plans for one of my friends from back home to come visit me in September as it's one of the slowest months here.
  • Signed up for Candlelight processional, which will hopefully go over well! (Just need to rest my voice for a few days...)
Overall, I've been trying to make the most of everyday after a couple of realizations these past few weeks. I'll try and type up a few of the stories over the next few days when I've got time, unless I receive a few requests. More than anything else I'm having Character Attendant withdrawal, but managing!

(8 Days until my Birthday!!)

Until Next Time, Have a Magical Day!

Another Quick Update!

Good Evening wonderful people! I hope all is going well as of late...

My apologies on not keeping the blog updated recently as I have been quite busy handling a few other matters, in addition to traveling to several other different parks and areas for work, which I've really loved recently!

The highlight of my week thus far would most definitely have to be a little princess who was wanting to meet Snow White, but was unable as Snow White needed to travel back to the cottage to feed the seven dwarfs. Her father told me to "explain to the little girl why she couldn't see Snow White" as he pointed at me and called me the "evil Prince" which I took nothing of. She stood there upset, as I smiled at her. You could see her smile slowly grow, and I walked over to her, telling her that Mickey had a special surprise for her while I put something in her hand... A Mickey Sticker! She then gave me a high five while I stayed down at her level, complimenting her on her tower that she was holding, which had all the princesses on it! I asked her if it was Rapunzel's tower, and I told her how Rapunzel was my most favourite Princess. She then used some magic, lo and behold, it light up while spinning which I was just amazed at! Her parents then escorted the little Princess off to another faraway land after the father thanked me.

I'll hopefully doing a big update here soon, as these past few days have been really wonderful! I'm looking forward to all the wonderful stories that I can tell here soon!

Have a Magical Day!

French Toast Kinda Morning

Wednesday, July 10 (Day 52) -- French Toast Kinda Morning

Didn't get much sleep last night due to all the coffee I drank on Tuesday, which really unsettled my stomach meaning I got about two hours of sleep in the short story. Went to bed about 4AM to 6AM, got up and went for a drive to Wal-Mart which I thought was closed. Turns out that they lock a set of doors, and everyone is required to go through the grocery side doors. From there I found out that the Guest Returns area doesn't open until 7AM, which I stalled. I ended up doing the majority of my shopping, returned the items, got a newer pair of sunglasses that I exchanged for work, picked up the refrigerated items, then went home. Stopped by Wawa on the way which seems to still have the cheapest gas, plus it's really convenient with everything that it has, plus its location right next to the Wal-Mart.

Arrived back home, and ended up rearranging the refrigerator. Since Ryan likes to sleep on the couch, it wasn't too pleasant being quite, but I ended up fixing the fridge. At one point during the morning, he looked like a french model from a painting, on his side. It turns out whomever installed the fridge put an entire track on wrong. I adjusted all the shelves for maximum area, which is really what my flatmates should expect having an Engineering major rooming here. Sent off a few e-mails, and then spent the rest of my morning making everyone in the apartment French toast which was mainly because Emily (Alex's girlfriend) kept asking me, so I ended up making enough for Emily, Alex, Caleb, Kelsey, and Ryan when he eventually awoke from the couch. Caleb woke up and told me that he freaked out because I was gone when he woke up, then realized what must have happened. At about 11AM I had finished everyone's breakfast and cutting up fruit. Since I wasn't feeling to great still, I didn't eat all day. During this time I made a call to schedule a Doctor's appointment with a rheumatologist here in Florida, as well as apologizing to the Cast Services at Downtown Disney training team for cancelling my Calligraphy test which I was very much looking forward to.

From there, I woke Kelsey as I went over to the Internships office to make them aware of what I needed fixed. The lady assisting me more or less started saying "But this is Disney, and they work differently" while I told her that I had been with the company for a year and a half, which they have zero right to treat people horribly. She just ended up forwarding the information off to one of my leaders, and again taking zero responsibility.

Made it back home, took Kelsey home, and got her going to work. I went back home and just fell asleep the rest of the day, albeit Lyanne and Miss Nicole wanted to try and do something.

First Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular!

Tuesday, July 8 (Day 51) -- First Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular!

Hello, and happy Tuesday! Made the decision to get up around 11AM after having awoken throughout the night. Went to Panera for breakfast with a friend and work best friend, where I had 3 too many cups of coffee. Parted ways as she had work, so I took her best friend to Publix shopping. While she was shopping I looked through all of the birthday cards as Isho's birthday is up and coming, then I walked through the rest of Publix, stopping at the Disney area.

Drove Bri home, and after helping her upstairs with all of her groceries, went home myself. Since the coffee has different side effects on me, I was talking to my roommate really quickly which he didn't mind. Next, I called Cast Services at Downtown Disney in regards to training and scheduling an appointment for calligraphy. I've been working getting everything together to sign up for the Ornament Calligraphy and Personalization in the Magic Kingdom, which requires interest indicated on the HUB in addition to the form I've been trying to get the past month. My first step of action was signing up, then asking a leader if he'd assist me in doing so, which he was fully supporting me on. I decided to finally take the initiative to figure out the form after waiting for quite a bit, and called this afternoon. One of the ladies was kind enough to forward me the interest form that required Manager's Signatures and two practice sheets detailing the Calligraphy for my test on Wednesday.

After printing out the forms, I took a bus to Port Orleans then another bus over to Disney's Hollywood Studios. Since it was my first time arriving at the bus depot, I went to the left side and walked all the way around, meaning I've still yet to see the Monster's University topiary located near the entrance. On my way in, the gentleman working bag check talked for a bit, asking where I was headed and whatnot since I had my nametag in my work bag. I walked through five and dime, along with the entire right side. Went to Sunset and found a Coordinator who was working floorstock to ask about the whereabouts of my Manager that I've been speaking to. She told me that they were across the way usually in their offices, but were now in a meeting. I walked across the way, and asked one of my friends working floorstock after giving Jade a hug and talking for a bit. They end up sending David twenty minutes later, who I then ask for my manager whom he says he will go look for, and to just wait for a bit. I walk around the store, and he comes back another twenty minutes later informing me that my Manager who has been helping me the past while on the matter is "busy with personal related matters, and unable to see you" which he kept repeating as I asked if he could get with him to get all the information I had given. David said he'd look into it with another manager, after stumbling over his words and checking his phone a million times. I finally just asked him if two hours would be sufficient enough, which he said would be fine.

...Meaning I was stuck in Hollywood Studios the next two hours from 5PM to 7PM to pass the time. Since Bri had also come to the Studios, she was in the American Idol experience. I made my way to the American Idol experience, stopping at the Monster's booth, which I found had the hats on request-only during the dance party. I tried texting her, then calling her and she didn't answer. I finally decided on Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular! since Idol is too loud, plus I'd been really wanting to finally see Indy. The entire show was awesome, as one of the gentlemen sitting next to me was cast as an extra. It's honestly a lot of fun as it's essentially the making-of Indiana Jones in the perspective of stunts, which I love. The other aspect was how every stunt was put together, which really is awesome as I know the perspective on everything given I'm originally a Technical Theatre Manager. There's also another part towards the end where Marion picks an "extra" to practice techniques on to show the audience how fight scenes work, and end up knocking out the gentleman to unconsciousness. I realized as soon as the extras walked out that he was out of place, given the different outlandish look compared to the guest extras.

The entire time I was watching the Indy Stunt show, I really wanted to meet the gentleman that was Indiana Jones' Stunt double. They thankfully did a meet and greet to talk with all the little kids and get pictures which was really nice of them. I let most of the little kids go in front of me, so that I could talk engineering and show with them without breaking it for the little kids. I shook Marion's hand, thanking her and then shook Indy's hand which got me really nervous. I mentioned to Indy what field I was in, and he just started going off as he knew exactly where I was from. I talked to him about being a previous stage manager, and he told me that he used to do for the longest time, just pointing at the booth. After I asked him about how he made his way in as a Stunt actor, he told me the story of how he went from being a techie to having a love for the actors and what they did, so he practiced and made his way up there. Marion also piped in when I asked about schools, training and everything else. Both were very kind, and I thanked them for their time heading out.

On my way out, they finished with the group of kids, as Indy yelled at me to come back down to talk at the right stage. Since I know the majority of the show aspects of Indiana Jones, we talked for a bit. He told me in how he started at Lights, Motor, Action! and went from there. The funniest part was them being their own team to fix things called the "Imagineers" saying "well I'd imagine..." which I got a kick out of. We talked about the future of things, as he got that I knew a lot already, along with the future of our backlands. I'm not normally nervous around people, but it was really nice for them to give their time to talk with me for 20 more minutes, which definitely made my day.

I made my to Guest Relations next after walking through a few stores, and really contemplating an Indiana Jones hat. I stopped in Mickey's of Hollywood to purchase a Jedi Mickey which I've been wanting for the longest time, then made my way to guest relations. Since I'd been using my hand a lot, my wrist was really hurting. I arrived at guest relations, which had a nice little line which I waited in. The gal that I had assist me wasn't too enthused to be there, and asked me what she could assist me with. She said they did do Great Service cards for the shows, and took a scrap piece of paper, writing down the information that I told her, eventhough she had no idea about the show. She said bye, and shoved the piece of paper in her pocket, which I assume was later thrown away without entering in anything.

Made my way to Toy Story to see Sarah, after rudely told that they didn't know anyone by that name. Walked around the backlot and streets trading pins while checking through merchandise. Made my way over to the Muppets area, stopping through the gift shop, and being amazed by the Christmas Store! Made my way back to the Manager's office to receive my papers, as I ran into one who didn't even recognize me as he ignored me. Another walked over to help the first with something, then came over to me as I was asking for David. He handed me the paper saying that they wouldn't support my decision as I hadn't met the criteria of six months, and because it was "already too late, so no". I tried explaining that I had previously been with the company, as they all knew which he denied, and explaining that I already had a test set up for Wednesday which he denied as well while walking away from me.

Reasonably upset, I made my way out to leave but ended up stopping myself as it had been a great day, heck I even met Indiana Jones and Marion, plus I had the opportunity to talk with them!! Stopped by 50's Prime Time Cafe on my way out, standing over near the bar as I was waiting for my friend Joey to return from her break as I was previously told she went on it 15 minutes ago. I stood around, and connected to the internet (which I still don't understand why I can't get it offstage) to check my twitter and what have you. When Joey came back out, I said hello as she gave me a hug and we caught up really quickly. Since I knew her boyfriend, Blaine was out of town I offered to spend some time together soon which she definitely considered. We talked for a bit, then I headed to catch the bus.

...Which is when I finally run into Bri, who is waiting at the bus stop. She tells me she turned off her phone to save it, then complains about them not taking her to see where the ice cream was. The bus didn't show up 3 times in a row, and after 3 people called two showed up back-to-back.

Spent the rest of my evening catching up on blogs, and just relaxing while DJing!

Have a Magical Day!

Day 49 & 50

Sunday, July 7 (Day 49) -- Med Field Trip!

Worked 4:45PM to 1:30AM once again, which was closing. Arrived at work quite early, thinking I worked at 4PM, then talked to an Area Manager. I informed her about having hurt my wrist as the pain had worsened, which was questioned because I didn't bring it up speaking with her after work last night. She filled out a form before I clocked on, while Madi informed me about what happened on Sunday, giving me a better idea of why certain things happened. We sat and talked for a bit while her and I joked around, then clocked in and was sent over to health services at EPCOT, which I received a ride from my trainer to. They filled out another form asking the same questions, then called a van for me to Centracare. After talking with the RN for a while about having lived in Colorado, she said to plan on coming back on Friday for a follow-up. I ended up waiting nearly 2 hours after filling out paperwork at Centracare, and fell asleep watching Pocahontas and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest until my name was called. Went into the divided rooms, and seen by a nurse confirming all of my information. I was then seen by a doc who moved my wrist and arm in a million different possible directions, then diagnosing me with a sprained wrist with lifting restrictions, along with a prescription to fill for pain medication.

Rode a van to the Studios after stopping at the Boardwalk for a guest, and talking fireworks with everyone. Was dropped off at the Studios Bus loop, and went back to my work location, and found a coordinator who then directed me to a manager, our intern David. He took my work restriction forms, saying I would be fine even with my brace on, and disregarded my restrictions. I rang the rest of the night, then did closing. At one point in time before my break I felt faint and lightheaded, which was also disregarded. I received my last break, and was informed that my first 30 lunch was forced out while I was taking my trip to the hospitals because they made the decision to do so.

Anyways, I ended up closing work and we didn't end up leaving until 2AM because our bags were all locked away in the new lockers which the intern didn't know how to open.

Monday July 8 (Day 50) -- Birthday Toy Story

Worked our Attraction location from 5:30PM to 12:30AM for Extra Magic Hours which was quaint. Arrived a bit before to put my bag away as it's a walk and wore sunglasses most of the day. Spent my day working with Lizzie, who is easily upset for reasons. She got her two breaks in, and made me go take mine near the scheduled times while it was slow. We slowly got friendlier and joked the rest of the evening, especially since we were open until midnight. I had my friend, Sarah who works Toy Story come up to for a NSA as a guest needed a Woody Mickey, and we got them situated away. At one point in time after she comes back from an ice run, she notices she was missing her nametag, and asks if I have seen it. I tell her to please go retrace her steps and to take her time, and I last remember seeing it earlier while she was ringing. I then walk up to our intern, David, asking if he's seen Lizzie's nametag, which he says that he "ensured" in catching that she was missing it, which was a blatant disregard of the matter that I was addressing. She comes out, asking when I remember seeing it, and we determine it was before her ice run. She retraces her steps again, and gets stopped by a guest while I'm ringing a few feet out of the area. David the intern starts freaking out saying "What if..." while rambling off numerous possibilities of Disney look coming by while I reassure him to give her an opportunity to look, as she may possibly find it. He starts yelling that she needs to get off stage, while I start talking him down as she goes to look. He runs out the back door of our stockroom freaking out as I walk away from him in his terror to go stock myself, ensuring him once again that there's a moment as a power of management (as I have been) to just give people grace.

...Lizzie returns a bit later with a smile on her face as she found it, and David is nowhere in sight. She then later goes on her last break. During this time, things slow down and I have a birthday gal come up to me. Since I usually keep mystery pins, I let her lift up my pin back to look at them and she chose a really good one which she really liked. I assisted her and her grandmother with their purchases, and then took them over to get a birthday wish from Goofy as I watched her smile slowly grow. I asked her if she spoke with Goofy, as she nods and smiles, then walks off as her grandmother profusely thanks me. I later addressed a matter of my lifting restriction, which was still disregarded once again by David. Another funny situation was when he decided to walk over to tell us close register one, while Tarlyn just called me prior to him walking over.

The rest of the night went quite well, as we closed everything down in exactly 8 minutes as I helped one last guest while assisting her in Spanish! Spent the rest of the night helping Meghan out with trash, as well as Manuel who will be leaving soon, unfortunately. I have given him a few rides home, and he keeps offering me the opportunity to go back home with him, which would be so much fun given how many cars that he's got and whatnot.

Day 46 - 48

Thursday, July 4 (Day 46) -- Independence Day 2013

Woke up fairly early on the Fourth of July as I was scheduled to work an 8AM to 2PM shift. Expecting things to be a bit busier than usual, I woke up earlier than usual, and drove in early. After arriving at work around 7:20AM, I attempted to place my items away, but found that all the doors were locked. I went to sit down for a while with the rest of the holiday morning crew who were talking about things ranging from personal to holiday pay. As my shift was about to start, I checked fifteen minutes before, and place all my things away. I clocked in on time, and had fun opening all the doors, along with picking up all the rain mats from the previous night. Had a fellow cast member start going off about how I declined an American pin, which is typical for my area anyways.

Work went by quickly enough, where everything picked up right as I was leaving. I made my way back to my car, and made it home in good time as everyone was arriving to get ready for the big crowds and fireworks. Went straight over to a friend's as I had brought a change of clothes, and although she wasn't feeling to well we went out for food. While waiting for her to get ready, I spoke with her roommates, three of which were getting ready to go to work for the holiday. Sara, who had previously been on the program decided to start debating on how no one gets holiday pay while Sasha stood and watched it all.

As she was finally ready, we left Sara and Sasha to go get food at Steak 'n Shake since she really wanted burgers for the Fourth of July. While waiting there was a drunk guy waiting for food yelling, as they finally got all of our food together. We went back to her apartment with the plans of watching a movie or two and going from there. As we arrived back Sasha went off in front of Rae and her friend saying how she was upset at how rude I was at Sara, and how it's their apartment, and just going downhill from there. I grab my food, and just decide to go home. Since she didn't want to be alone on the holiday, she came over as well while we watched The Secret of the Wings since we both love Periwinkle. I ended up falling asleep midway through the film, as did she. We both woke up after it ended around 7PM as she still insisted on going to see fireworks, as I got ready while making her hamburgers that she insisted on having.

We ended up on the rode just shortly after 7PM, which wasn't ideal with the holiday crowd. After waiting forever at the turn to the TTC, I learn that everyone was just waiting to turn at the TTC as we needed to go to the Contemporary. We try parking in Cast Parking, which I'm followed by a Security vehicle. I tell he's following me when I go an opposite direction and he still follows me. I open the door and speak with him as he's still sitting in his car, and advises "park anywhere but here if you're not working" whereas I park across the way. We go into Bay Lake Tower, and end up sitting at the 15th floor atrium watching fourth of July fireworks as we converse with several other guests. The entire time we're waiting we watch the fireworks on the horizon, as well as the fireworks in the rear which were quite pretty. It was a beautiful sight to finally see the Fourth of July Spectacular as I had missed it previously. Thankfully we had a view of the entire lagoon, and castle fireworks with the exception of the far right castle fireworks.

As the fireworks finish up, we say our goodbyes to those that we met and walk down the 15 flights of stairs as the elevator had taken forever. We make our way out, and head towards the Magic Kingdom as I drop off my bag, taking my camera. On the way into the Magic Kingdom, it was mad as all the PAC folks were directing everyone to their proper buses after the fireworks as she said "I'd really love that, just to yell at people!".  Since the first place she wanted to stop was the dance party between Main Street and Tomorrowland backstage, we went by for a bit as she said hello to everyone that she worked with that walked by. We then walked to Tomorrowland, going to the 626 Dance Party then the Peoplemover as the line died down. We then walked around Fantasyland for a bit as she just wanted to go shopping, and I watched the Electric Light Parade as the Peter Pan float went by. Since most of the road was blocked off due to the crowd, we were directed towards the rear of the castle, being told we couldn't return the same way we came. The next ride decision was Peter Pan's Flight, which was too long, so we went to PhilharMagic, which I was unable to watch due to my glasses being damaged from water. We looked around the gift shop, then went around the castle once more towards the Emporium. Since I wanted to see Rae again, I walked through the Emporium until we found her in the Toy/Plush room stocking. She looked quite tired, telling us both that she'd be at work until 5AM once again, and gave us both big hugs. She also went on about how she finally tried breakfast at the Mouse which was great, and how she still needed to go shopping for gifts for her visit back home. I wished her luck, as she went off putting things away, then we looked around the Emporium. I then decided to part ways and went over to the Firehouse to get more Sorcerer's of the Magic Kingdom cards. We then met as the Second Electric Parade was getting ready to start, and made our way back to the Contemporary. The main reason I wanted to go to the Magic Kingdom was to avoid the outbound traffic, which thankfully worked.

Friday, July 5 (Day 47) -- Red Belts and Pouches

Had an excellent day today working Courtyard from 10AM to 8PM, which mostly consisted of the outdoor cart as I'm always the lucky one of the draw. I opened the cart, but was rotated occasionally most of the day. The major issue they have with most of the cart schedules is that one person is left outside longer moreso than most, which isn't fair, especially in the heat. Saw Jade as I was leaving for the day, and helped her fix her scarf a bit as she was working the Animation Gallery. Finally made use of my pouch as we have belts with our Animation costumes, as well as my Ariel shirt!

Saturday, July 6 (Day 48) -- Multitasking Injury

Scheduled to work 10AM (open) to 7PM at the outdoor area today, which I was the lucky one to draw the cart. I ended up outside the majority of the day, which was absolutely mad. The majority of the day the cart is uncovered, so it's really hard to stay cool. It was a long day, but I opened the cart very excited and just made the most of the day. Throughout the day I received one 30-minute lunch, and one 15-minute break from the heat as it was a 9 hour shift, which I don't find completely adequate given the conditions of Florida.

Spent the day helping the drink assist during their shift change, which wasn't too bad given it was still before noon. The rest of my day was spent helping Chrisoula out as she requested help. The rest of the day was interesting as the cordless phone we had continually went "out" which meant I was unable to request more change. I later learned that Melissa from our outdoor covered area kept attempting to call me to switch, but it continually rang busy, which would explain the phone concern.

The rest of my evening after 4PM was hectic, as I had to specifically request my last break from a manger. I forced my drink assist to finally take her break as she had yet to receive one, although we called on it nearly 45 minutes earlier but was disregarded.

As she went to her 30-minute break, I multi-tasked filling drinks, assisting guests, and ringing. Jade, who I work with and is absolutely a darling came to visit me for quite a bit before catching the 5:15PM showing of Beauty and the Beast. While I was helping everyone, we talked as she made her way just to see me. Since I do speak Spanish, I had the two most interesting men from Spain walk up and begin speaking Spanish. They rapidly progress from there, speeding up which we all got a kick out of. I directed them to where they were asking, and then went about my day.   At one point, it started raining warm rain while everyone started running. It was clear and sunny which was weird, as I apologized to Jade who had stuck with me. (I had previously mentioned this to the two managers, who pushed it off as "light showers" and that "guest satisfaction comes before your safety from everything".)

Jade mentioned that I looked even hotter than her due to the humidity, as a guest was being rung up who also mentioned I looked overly warm with everything dripping off of me, even to the point he offered me a water.  While multi-tasking, the drawer got stuck once again and I hurt my wrist as I was hurrying to assist a guest. When it slowed down a bit, I filled ice as well. My drink assist arrived an hour later just as I sold my last water. She learned that no one had come to help, as she sent me inside to get some water. As I came back outside with a coordinator to finally drop off the change I had requested, I saw two people finally showed up, right as I was returning from getting water.

The next wonderfulness was the gal taking my cart position didn't arrive, as we later learned that she had a required work class. I was asked to extend, and stayed until 8:30PM as I had already been there all day, which they decide will be the closing time for the cart. I was then sent on another break due to the number of hours I was working, as the drink assist covered once more by herself while Manuel covered my last break once again. I went on break, and relaxed for a bit. I relieved Manuel since I felt bad for him being outside in a suit and tie, and sent him back inside. Zach then came over and forced me out saying "Bayeee" as he wanted to switch while the sun was no longer out. I worked the covered area playing with a light toy for the rest of the evening until 8:30PM by myself until Claudia returned from her break after having her class, which David freaked out about. After clocking out, I took the time to talk to one of the Managers that were still available about the opportunities and challenges from today.

Life's what you make it!

Day 43 - 45

Monday, July 1 (Day 43) -- The Princess, Sofia

Worked Floorstock in the Courtyard today, from 3PM to 12:30AM. Arrived to work, requesting Animation Courtyard as my best friend Meghan wanted me to do so. She arrived at 6:30PM, giving me a giant hug as she was so excited to see me. The highlight of my day was assisting a gentleman and his daughter purchase a Princess Sofia Character Set. They explained how they were previously at the Disney Junior stage show earlier that day, and had seen the Princess Sofia set on the cart. Since the character set was located on one of our outdoor carts, I ran outside with my umbrella to retrieve it. After re-opening parts of the cart, I finally retrieved a set, which was the same as the one in our local shop. Since I realized that it was no longer raining, I took the guests out to the cart and assisted them in finding the set, when the daughter excitedly found the one that she wanted. The father also grabbed the Sofia the First pin that we sold at the cart as well to purchase. In the meantime, I ask them about their trip when the father begins explaining that his daughter absolutely loves Sofia the First Princess, as her name is Sofia. His daughter then asks so kindly in another language "Father, why doesn't the Princess Sofia meet?" which he then asked me. I said unfortunately Princess Sofia is away performing her royal duties, but may visit sometime soon! I wrapped up their princess purchases, saying "Goodbye Princess Sofia" as her and her father walked off into the sunset.

Spent the rest of my evening stocking here and there as I was caught up the majority of the evening already. The dance party for Extra Magic Hours began at 10PM, which everyone working the courtyard loves! Meghan had fun dancing, and stood under my umbrella while I held it, as if she were a princess. Rode the bus home and spent the rest of my evening in the Learning Center printing off forms and papers that I needed, in addition to sending off several required Engineering e-mails.

Tuesday, July 2 (Day 44) -- Lyanne the Birthday Princess

Had the Day off today. Slept in until noon after getting off quite late last night. Went to Wal-Mart to go shopping for food. The primary reason I went shopping was to pick up gifts for my best friend, Lyanne, along with Princess Birthday cupcakes as we were celebrating her birthday from the previous day as both of us were working.

Went to get gas on the way home from Wawa, then made it home in decent time. My plan was to get home, drop off my groceries, and get everything together to leave at 3:30PM, picking Lyanne up at 4:15PM when her shift ended. Ended up having maintenance come and fix our toilet right as I was walking out the door, and was told to wait as he drove off with our stoppers. He came back 15 minutes later, fixing everything and then leaving as I said everything else was fine. I had called on the toilet, vents, closet doors and lights which were all problematic. I left later than planned, but still made good time to pick her up.

Since she works in one of the resorts, I walked around a bit to trade a few of my pins as I saw her walk by me with her trainer. As she was still working, I went to go find one of my Flatmates, Alex, who works on the docks. I was told that he was on break and would be back shortly, which is when I made the decision to go back and sit in one of the most comfortable chairs ever in the lobby as I was greeted by one of the concierge/front desk gentleman. I sat just relaxing, waiting for Lyanne as she walked by twice more, none of which she realized. She finally got off of work, and after receiving all my texts stood across the lobby motioning for me to get going as she was ready to leave. I met a very kind gentleman who had previously greeted me, and we talked for a while. I mentioned that we were going out to celebrate the birthday gal's special day. He was very kind in wishing her a happy birthday and went on about how back home in Iran they celebrated every July 1st, and told us a wonderful story saying "they did everything you would ever imagine, and more!" while smiling wonderfully.

When we arrived at my car I gave her the princess cupcakes which I specially requested, and she was thoroughly enthralled about! After departing the Resort, we drove back to her place as she changed out of her costume. The entire drive home she was talking about how much she wanted Chik-Fil-A, but as we were leaving I listed off several other possibilities as it was indeed her special day. She finally settled on Cici's Pizza which I really hope she enjoyed. While at Cici's we talked about a lot of work experiences as well as catching up on a personal basis.

While we were eating desert, I gave her the card and Birthday button I had put together which she appreciated, along with her gift. The entire time she said I really didn't have to, and really appreciated it. She then told me about how her trainer gave her a Spanish Happy Birthday button, which was really nice. We talked a bit longer, and I dropped her off at home as it had been a very long evening given all the interesting things her roommates did for her the previous night. We parted ways, and I thanked her once more.

Wednesday, July 3 (Day 45) -- Meghan's Stitch Problem

My second day off, which was quite hectic. Woke up fairly late, after having plans to meet my best friend, Meghan at Magic Kingdom. We pushed it back to 1PM, but I ended up taking a trip to Magic Kingdom costuming to pick up a poncho pouch since my work area isn't the best with costuming. Made my way to the Magic Kingdom around 2PM, and Tomorrowland from there to meet her at the Peoplemover as she was visibly upset. As soon as I called her and waved several times to her as she was on the Peoplemover, she was a whole lot happier. She got off of the Peoplemover, and we went to look at the line for Space Mountain which was still ridiculously long, being the day before the fourth of July and all. We then took a trip to Fantasyland to meet one of her friends at the Village Haus, whom she talked to for quite a bit. We walked around towards Be Our Guest as she told me how she was an "old friend" for several different reasons. She then told me she was hungry, and we turned around to walk towards the entrance. We jumped on the Monorail, transferred and then went to get her food. We walked around quite a long ways after she got a hot dog and several bracelets, and then finally a bunch of foreign foods as well which I carried for her.

We eventually made our way back to the Magic Kingdom TTC while it was getting darker, and took the Tram to her car to drop off all of her purchases. She drove over to the Contemporary and parked in cast parking, then we walked back over to the Magic Kingdom after I talked her into bringing her jacket. The first stop was Casey's Corner as she really wanted a corn dog. On the way to Casey's I saw my daughter Rae working in the Emporium, and stopped to say hello. It started raining, and Casey's Corner became packed, so she changed her mind. I found out the next nearest corn dog stand, and we headed towards Frontierland. She purchased a Corn Dog right outside of Pecos Bill's which is where I wanted to go, because of The Lone Ranger boot mug with frozen rootbeer, which I ordered along with a side of fries.

The funniest part of my day was when she had her corn dog in hand she says "It's not raining that bad" as we walk into Pecos, as It then starts pouring rapidly as she stands there completely stunned.  I got some Nacho Cheese and barbeque sauce from their burger bar while Meghan got some mushrooms which she decided she didn't like. We sat in the farthest backmost area of Pecos Bill's which I hadn't been in since the 24 hour day. After eating, we went to Tomorrowland and rode the Peoplemover once more. On the way to Tomorrowland at the Hub near the partners statue, I saw Joey doing Parade Audience Control, who I later found out was her but she wears a "Josephine" nametag. She put her leg out while getting on since she wanted a seat to sit on herself, and made me move to the next, going backwards. While going through Space Mountain, she sat next to me as I was just sleeping the entire ride. She tapped me, and moved back to her seat, laughing.

Since she absolutely loves Stitch, we went on Stitch's Great Escape. She loves Stitch so much that she talked Ryan into buying her a jumbo plush Stitch. The entire catch to this all is that the Fourth of July Spectacular was occurring right at this time, as it was running from Monday to Sunday for the holiday. We spent the entire fireworks time on Stitch's Great Escape, which she sat in the front of. It was absolutely adorable, but I sat in the back due to Stitch spitting on everyone, which I warned her about. We then exited through Merchant of Venus, but walked through Mickey's Star Traders as she saw a Stitch hat she really wanted while on the Peoplemover. She ended up purchasing the Stitch baseball hat, while the cast member so kindly thanked me for assisting him with getting her alternate choices. After she purchased the hat, she wanted to go back on the Peoplemover once more, which was quite long after the fireworks had finished up. Instead we went over to the 626 dance party near the Carousel of Progress which had Chip 'n Dale, Stitch, Pluto, and Goofy out dancing with everyone in their "future" suits.

Ended the night walking through the backstage area from Tomorrowland to Main Street that was opened up with a DJ and properly themed for the Fourth of July. She stood and listened for a bit, then we walked out to Main Street, as I walked her back to her car located at the Contemporary. She told me about her plans as we joked, and I tried making her feel better.  We hugged, and departed our ways as I went to go take a bus back home.

Day 39-42

Day 39-42

Day 39 -- Thursday, June 27 -- Productively Sweets Closing

Closed Sweets once again with my main man Ryan, which was fun. He zoomed through everything so we could get out quicker, as I'm getting the hang of it all. Definitely a productive day. They actually gave away food today on break.

Day 40 -- Friday, June 28 -- TS Closing Drama

Closed TS today, which wasn't too pleasant. It rained most of the day, and had soaked shoes... Had a nice little chat with one of my Managers about a few of my concerns and goals with everything recently, who was very nice about it. Ended the day with a Mentor which makes me happy since she's really nice!

Day 41 -- Saturday, June 29 -- That Grrly Store

Nothing much today, ended up working in the lone standing store that's kind of hidden. I did have an excellent talk with my coordinator about how I could alone improve the store to re-theme it at a wider variety of audiences as it's too main-stream right now as it's only aimed towards younger teenage gals, specifically. I could at least hear the event going on the whole night, and had fun closing it.

Day 42 -- Sunday, June 30 -- Angry Man Showers

Worked outside most of today, with the exception of the rain. Since our two main outdoor locations consist of one covered and one lone-standing car, they are typically quite slow. I started out in our covered area, then voluntarily opened back up the cart by myself for the first time. It typically goes very quick-paced due to the fact that everyone needs water/soda that is sold there. I saw storm clouds in and started telling Enock that we should close up, but he was on his way out anyways. I started preparing to close as I called the coordinator who told me to "wait it out". I didn't have a poncho or umbrella, so lo and behold a few minutes later it started to downpour. I had everything locked up in under 5 minutes, walking past my coordinator with an umbrella who was walking towards me. I made it into the covered outdoor area that has cloth drop gates, which are powered by switches. Maria couldn't get one down, so I put the four sides down and left open the two front. Before putting the rear back gate down, I yelled "Everyone please clear the area!" as Maria motioned the people walking by with the Umbrella to move out of the way. I began lowering it, and as I was doing so it dropped a little bit as a gentleman tried running in for some reason or another after having already yelled. He walked back, and then came back, lifting the pole lowering the gate down. He comes over towards me as I'm still lowering everything and threateningly says "Are you laughing at me boy! ARE YOU?". I just tell him no Sir, and that the folks on my right are, and to please calm down. He storms off after they deny everything. The next best part of my day was when it started raining again and all the gates were up. I was playing with a little girl who couldn't have been more than 10, who started playing lightsabers with me after asking a million questions. We played a little bit, and I said sorry sweetie, and then went to go close everything up for the rain. She disappeared, but I later say her with her grandpa walking by, and waved to her saying goodbye princess, as she said "Goodbye Josh!" excitedly while waving. Walking away I heard her grandfather ask who that was, and she replied it was a nice guy who played with her. Totally made my day! Had a very nice couple who were celebrating their one year anniversary, who were absolutely adorable. They stood in the covered area, and I had the pleasure of talking with the Husband after helping the wife cancel her reservations at a Resort Restaurant. I had picked up the phone and had Reservations on the line right when her outside line started ringing, but she called me sweet. She also told me she worked in Show Production Costuming and that I could come visit her sometime soon! I also gave the husband some ideas to start making use of his Technical/Theatre Degree that he has, especially since he wants to work. Also rode Tower of Terror 5 times in a row after work since a certain someone "Had" to "beat their record".

That about covers the past few days, just trying to keep it informative! Thinking of adding a few how-to's about the HUB when I receive the opportunity to.

Day 38 -- Wednesday, June 26 -- My Favourite Things (Magic Kingdom Resorts)

Really a nice relaxing day today, albeit forced:

The Most Magical Kingdom

Day 37 -- Tuesday, June 25 -- The Most Magical Kingdom

Here you leave Today and enter the world of Yesterday, Tomorrow, and Fantasy:

Day 32-36

Day 32-36

Day 32 -- Thursday, June 20 -- Went to leadership class at 9AM, went home and slept, then went to work Once from 3:45PM to 10:30PM. Introduced to friends from back home who were both really nice, a brother and sister. They received maingate tickets for their stay which was really courteous.

Day 33 -- Friday, June 21 -- Worked once again from 2:30PM to 10:15PM.

Day 34 -- Saturday, June 22-- Worked once from 3PM to 11PM, but this time my friend came to see me, who rode tower four times that night because of how slow it was and she had the day off. Two ceramic mugs and one snowglobe broke today, which I had the pleasure of dealing with. I picked up the larger pieces of the last mug myself since the Fantasmic crowd was leaving, and ended up realizing later that I had sliced my hand open. Gave Manuel a ride home after work.

Day 35 -- Sunday, June 23 -- Worked once for the last time in a bit from 3:45PM to 11PM which wasn't too bad. Tried opening one of our larger metal gates that have a stop catch for the vertical handle, with the catch going into my hand and causing it to swell up.

Day 36 -- Monday, June 24 -- Finally a change of pace working floorstock, but a bit different. Worked a 1:30PM to midnight shift. They decided to roll out a new "pick list" system that is typically done in the box stores, which I'm not going to go much detail in. The bottom line is that it hadn't been remotely tested in such a location before, that it really should have been a trial-and-error situation where we're looking to solve certain situational problems, and ask for feedback that we may find helpful. It just wasn't the most pleasant experience thus far, plus I was "informed" of my breaks.

Have a Magical Day!

Quick Update...

Just a really quick update since things have been sparse lately...
  • Things have been getting better recently, mainly as I'm not home as much any more
  • Recently came down with a Chest cold which I've been fighting over the past week. Thankfully it's almost gone.
  • Received no sleep the past week
  • Smashed my hand while opening a gate at work and internal bleeding.
  • Cut my hand on a ceramic mug that broke (one of two, plus a snowglobe) and was advised not to report it as we were "almost to having an ice cream social".
  • Continuing to make the most of my time.
  • Woke up at 4AM to go to the Magic Kingdom...
That about sums my past week up. Anyways, off to bed since I'm sore from my workout plus my hand is bothering me...

Have a Magical day!

Blog Catch-up

Day 30 -- Tuesday, June 18 -- Blog Catch-up

Another wonderful day off, which was a first given how busy it's been lately:

Show Firsts

Day 29 -- Monday, June 17 -- Show Firsts

Definitely a lot planned today that I had to look forward to:

Father's Day 2013

Day 28 -- Sunday, June 16 -- Father's Day 2013

Back to Training today, with a few differences:

DCP Days 25-27

Disney College Program Days 25-27

Day 25 -- Thursday, June 13 -- Indoor Ovens

Nothing too much happened today as I tried sleeping most of the day, then worked a 3:30p to 10:15p at one of the hottest place in the entire park since the air conditioning isn't functioning properly.

Day 26 -- Friday, June 14 -- Nightmare Trading

Had a really fun time today with all the vinylmation and pin trading, and worked a 2:15p to 10:45p which was spent selling and trading vinylmation most of the day because a lot of people were wanting specific Star Wars ones. I had the pleasure of telling my Toy Story buzz story from my time at TDS. Had a lot of really excited kids to open up their vinyls and trade the ones they didn't want. Also had a kid who loved Jack Skellington so much that he bought a lot of merchandise, and traded me both Jack pins that I had received throughout the evening after coming back. Another gal was looking for Maleficent, whom I tried my best to help out and get her an autograph. She returned later to trade me one of the Jack pins.

Day 27 -- Saturday, June 15 -- Bus Triviality

Quite the evening, working 5:30p to 1:30p closing our food Sweets area. Rotated between cashiering and counter/stocker which was alright. Received my pin satchel I had requested on one of my very first days from Madelyn who handed it to me saying that I needed to hide it as it's considered gold around there. Put in for an ER since one of my friends wanted to come over, which didn't end up happening. Closed the entire place after already having everything cleaned shortly after closing, but the dishes took the longest to clean then put away. Definitely had fun with Drake and another guy whose name forgoes me, as they were moving really quickly to get out. I received an ER after the two guys were already allowed to leave. Right as I was walking out of the costuming building (after having removed my work shirt) I watched the bus drive away almost 10 minutes early. Sat on the bench just thinking, and had one of the bigger guys I work with come out and start talking after I told him that the bus had already left. We sat and talked for quite a while, and several other people joined us. Rode the bus home with Zach and met my friend who thankfully had some time.

Final Training

Day 13 -- Saturday, June 1 -- Final Training Day 4!

Another wonderful day of training thus far, and the finale:

The Disney Magic Man

Day 12 -- Friday, May 31 -- Day Off, Hollywood Studios

Quite the day today! Woke up at 4AM to catch the bus for open at Hollywood Studios since it's the start of Week 3 of Star Wars Weekends. The main reason I woke up so early was because I really wanted to meet James Arnold Taylor and receive Sam Witwer's autograph. I arrived around 6:30AM to the celebrity line. It turns out the celebrity meet-and-greet system was changed where guests are only allowed one celebrity meet-and-greet per guest, per-a-day. For every guest wanting to meet a celebrity, they must have the wristband given to them while in line, plus the fastpass at the beginning of the line. This limits from switching guests/fastpasses or giving them away since everyone has to have the specific colour wristband still attached.

Anyways, I received Sam Witwer's and wanted to get James Arnold Taylor's but was pretty much told by the greeters to "suck it" and "You'd be able to get a picture from afar" while making fun of me. I was explained by another guest that there were Standby opportunities for certain guests, which were if the guests had more time. Since there were several times for each autograph session, they being with fastpasses for the first and go from there. After everything, I ended with Sam Witwer's with a fastpass return between 4:40PM and 4:55PM and a green wristband.

From there, we'll give a quickie:

Green Army Men

Day 11 -- Thursday, May 30 -- Training Day 3

  • Woke up at 4AM to catch the bus to work for 7AM shift
  • Had the pleasure of meeting a new trainer, who was quite cute and spoke Spanish with me
  • Reviewed the register
  • The reason for such an early shift was because we were opening, and learning to do so
  • Had a wonderful moment while working the Merch location for Toy Story Midway Mania where the Green Army Men soldier grabbed my hand, and gestured for me to take a picture while a guest handed me her phone. They really appreciated it, and I was later thanked by the Green Army Man's friend, which I found so cool. It was the whole experience of being grabbed to help out.
  • Did register and more food training.
  • Had a time after break where we went back to the Cabanas and did food quizzes and a few other training materials
Overall an interesting day. As of right now it's 1700 and I'm deciding what to do for dinner as we don't have much. I'm hoping to spend my day off tomorrow (Friday) in the parks for Star Wars Weekends and finally seeing Mr. Taylor's show, plus getting an autograph!

We make the most of our experiences!

Have a Magical Day!

CP Days 6 - 10

Good Afternoon wonderful people. Since I've been really busy lately, here's a bulk update of everything since Traditions! Things have really been picking up.

Day 5 -- Friday, May 24 -- Monstrous Summer
  • Spent 24 hours at The Magic Kingdom thanks to Miss Nicole!
  • Had an all you can eat donut bar with coffee, juice, and fruit which was absolutely lovely.
  • Finally saw the awesome Monster's University which I will be writing up soon!
Day 6 -- Saturday May 25 -- On With The Show
"The World you have entered was created by The Walt Disney Company and is dedicated to Hollywood—not a place on a map, but a state of mind that exists wherever people dream and wonder and imagine, a place where illusion and reality are fused by technological magic. We welcome you to a Hollywood that never was—and always will be."
  • Woke up to catch the 6AM bus for the On With The Show orientation
  • Received a history and somewhat tour of Hollywood Studios
  • This was my second time visiting Hollywood Studios since I had previously gone on Thursday, which I'm hoping I wrote about
  • Sat in a classroom portion of the orientation which told the history of the Studios over the years
  • The one thing that I didn't appreciate was them using the quote "A Hollywood that never was -- and always will be" as said by someone else, with no particular credit to Eisner. Give credit where credit is due. Another post at a later time on that.
  • Received my costume!
Day 7 -- Sunday, May 26 -- Training, Day 1
  • Had the pleasure of an actual tour of all of my areas with my two fellow coworkers.
  • Introduced to Donald, who has  been with the company for a very long time, and is a really great guy
  • Got to learn more about Donald throughout the course of our specific training, which I really enjoyed
  • Began at the Cabanas where the computer training was completed, then received our lanyards.
  • The one thing I appreciated more then anything else was how relatable he made our personal trips to work here in comparison to our guests preparing for their trip. More then anything, the notion that some families/guests are only able to make one trip in their lifetime to Walt Disney World, that we only have one opportunity to make it perfectly memorable for a lifetime. We do make a difference.
  • Received an entire tour of our areas, including the stockrooms of several. They are very organized.
  • Had a 30 minute lunch and break where I learned more about my two coworkers!
  • Since we have such a variety of areas, the tour was quite long.
  • Informed that we're allowed to wear our costumes anywhere on property, as it's considered a movie set. We are just unallowed to go on any rides or purchase any items.
  • Told that I was expected greatness, and nothing less given my knowledge

Day 8 -- Monday, May 27 -- Merchentaiment
  • Visited Disney University once again for the Merchentainment class, catching the 6AM bus
  • Had hands-on with the training registers which I shared with Steph since they were all a repeat of last time
  • Watched a security and protection of assets video which was supposedly an hour
  • Ate lunch with Steph and my two coworkers, who planned on going to parks after they had finished
  • Since we were scheduled until 3PM, I had the pleasure of finishing up the online work material for training which consisted of watching videos for 2 hours after lunch. Since I have special food training for my area I had to watch one extra video because of it.
  • Told by one of the girls who works in the same park that she still wanted to go to the Magic Kingdom, but never heard back from her while I was leaving. It's just an extra bus to get inside, but I ended up going home instead.
  • On my way out I was shown how to change my address, pick up shifts, and told to clock out on the way.
  • Took a nap since I had almost fallen asleep several times today. Woken up by my phone going off numerous times.
  • Invited one of my "friends" over as they wanted to make Rice Krispies. Ended up eating them the rest of the night, which I need to still get my pan back.
  • Watched Austin Powers since I hadn't seen them before, and they wanted to watch it. Ended up watching all three within that time period.

Day 9 -- Tuesday, May 28 -- Training, Day 2
  • Woke up at 11PM after a long night, and got ready for work leaving at 2PM
  •  Worked a 4PM to 1230AM shift, as we were being trained registers and closing in the food areas. Since I already knew registers I was pretty much just left alone most of the night.
  • Had an excellent night with our trainer, and meeting new people. I met Adam who is from back home, and we talked for a bit.
  • Had another 30 minute break and lunch.
  • Ran into Donald who was working a shop over, which is connected.
  •  Trained how to make Cotton Candy and the glacier mix, which was review from my food service job a while back.
  •  Spent the rest of the evening being taught how to serve food in the cases, and cleaning the entire side of the store
  • Received an ER after being told we "wouldn't ever receive one whatsoever, especially with the summer coming up. The reason why we did is because too many people were scheduled, and several already wanted to go home.
  • Really realized quite a few things today, which wasn't too pleasant. Mainly personal things along with work things. Just making the most of it all.
Day 10 -- Wednesday, May 29 -- Fantastic Day Off!

  • First Day off since beginning work, with the last being on Friday
  • Slept in after getting to bed at 2AM, and got up at 11AM after my roommate woke me up numerous times
  • Left my phone off the majority of the day as I've been really stressed and upset about quite a few things
  • Received my package from home which included my Medical ID Necklace, Bioshock Infinite, and Camera Strap.
  • Finished my laundry and cleaned up quite a bit
  • Wrote up a few blog articles borrowing my roommates computer, and trying to figure out what I'll be doing the rest of this evening. Right now I'm thinking of just going to take a nap.
  • Ended up going to take a nap, made dinner, then went to sleep.
Anyways, I believe that covers the highlights of our journey the past few days! I'll definitely try my best to keep up with it all, and add anything else that comes to mind.

In the meantime, Have a Most Magical Day!

The DCP "Fate"

Hello, and Good Afternoon!

Just thought I'd elaborate on the "fate" that most Disney College Program blogs, vlogs, tumblrs, etc. always fall to. The majority of program blogs fall to a no-update phase, or very sparse updates due to several facts:

  • We are all on different schedules, some with 50+ hour work weeks
  • There is very little free time
  • The free time that is actually available is spent either visiting the parks or taking care of personal needs such as shopping, laundry, cleaning, etc.
  • We all receive very little sleep, and take any opportunity to do so
More then anything else, the reason that Disney College Program blogs fall upon this "fate" of disappearing is because of how much of a difference in schedule that we all have. If you're closing one night until 1AM, get home at 3AM after the buses, then wake up for work at 5AM to catch the bus, working until 3PM, the only thing you really want to do when you get off of work is sleep. Then there's adjusting to Florida, and dealing with other personal, emotional, and physical things that everyone goes through at some point in time which I'll elaborate on at a later point in time.

If anything, I just hope everyone takes care of themselves and their well-being. Just enjoy the wonderful opportunities that life hands you, and make the most of them.

It gets better.

Have a Magical Day!

Update and a Few Quick Changes

Good Morning, Wonderful People!

Since I began my training today, I thought I'd share a bit of wisdom that I learned from my Trainer.

Beyond everything else that we've been told so far, one thing that my trainer Donald mentioned today absolutely stuck with me -- There's so many guests that plan their once-in-a-lifetime trip to the Disney Parks. . . Which we have to make a lasting impression that will give them memories for years to come.

Given everything else, that's why I love my job. We're responsible for making so many people's days, and it even rings true in life. There's so many once-in-a-lifetime opportunities that we receive in life that you never know exactly when, or even if they may occur again later. We just have to make the most of every moment we have right now, and if anything cherish them.

There's so many more pieces of advice from Walt that I could rattle off, which I'll do a later point in time.

As far as updates go, I believe I will be switching to a bullet/grid update system so that I can give quick swift updates without losing much more sleep, and keep everyone informed. I plan on writing about the Monster's University event come my next day off, as there's so many photographs and information to go with everything.

There's so much to write about, but keeping this blog in a professional light is my priority above everything else.

Have a Magical Day!

Had the pleasure of attending the Monstrous Summer event on May 24, 2013 for the 24 hour Disney day.

Had an excellent time at the Magic Kingdom and other various events which I'll write about soon when I have a free moment to publish all my notes!

Look for the review coming soon! Have a Magical Day!

Day Four Traditions

May 23, 2013 --

Had the pleasure of waking up at 5AM this morning to catch the Magic Kingdom bus to get to Disney University to figure out the situation with my ID. From there, I walked from Disney University to West Clock which gave me the opportunity to talk to a Cast Member from the Main Street Emporium.

Day Three Housing Meeting

Wednesday, May 22, 2013 --

Woke up at 7AM to call the internships and college program office since I have been having issues with my Traditions bypass status, which in turn affected my ID status and pick-up.

Wednesday, May 22, 2013

Day Two Tuesday Free Day

May 21, 2013 --

Woke up at 5AM for a sunrise run, which was quite fun. We decided to run down and around The Commons, and back to Chatham Square. Since we are required to show our ID at all times, I slowed down to pull it out from my music arm case, but ended up running straight through. After that, I decided to take a shower then go to the housing clubhouse since we've been having several issues.

Pre-trip Report #3 - Louisiana to Florida

Hello, and welcome to day three of the wonderful road trip!

We began day three on Friday, May 17, 2013 in Baton Rouge, LA. After packing everything up quickly and leaving the Motel 6 around 6AM, we set a course of New Orleans, LA.

The original reason why I chose the route of New Orleans was because of my friend Molly, who lives in New Orleans with the plan of going just to surprise her. After speaking with her for a few months since planning my trip a while back, I finally received a message from her that now wasn't the best time but she was thoroughly upset. My other reason for visiting her was to give her the gift I had been putting together over the past month intending to give to her, that I had finally finished the previous night. Anyways, back to the adventure...

After driving for a bit, we ended up over Lake Pontchartrain, which has an amazing bridge over the diameter of the entire lake. Given that Louisiana is a marsh-like swamp with all of its smaller bodies of water, there are a lot of bridges. We soon arrived in New Orleans and visited the visitor center which was an older train station on Basin Street. I took a few minutes to ask the nearest guide for some information, and she was really quite darling. She had the cutest New Orleans accent that I have ever heard, and she just started handing me information, informing me about everything. I then thanked her for all of her assistance, and went to take photographs of the entire visitor center. After that we went to go visit St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 behind the visitor center where Nicolas Cage's pyramid grave plot is located and where Homer Plessy is buried. We then decided upon going on the City Sightseeing New Orleans tour, which was a classic re-purposed Double Decker bus. Somewhat similar to the original buses back in London, but nothing genuinely similar.

The bus started at the Basin Street Station, and goes throughout New Orleans making several stops. The first stop on Basin Street, we got off to take the trolley up and down the street which you must have exact change for. After walking back to the original stop we departed from, we waited half an hour for the next bus. while the bus was making a turn on Canal Street near the Mississippi, I lost my hat because of the swift turn. I ended up running down off the bus and jumping off while every looked at astonishingly amazed. I ended up grabbing my hat in the middle of the street, which several cars had driven around and people had walked past. I then got a few pictures of the Audubon Aquarium, which I'm hoping I make back to see sometime soon! I took a few more pictures, and then went back to the bus stop, where there was a guy working the stop. I made small talk with him for quite a while, but he seemed slightly clueless.

Anyways, the transport arrived after another half-hour wait since the tours arrive in intervals of thirty minutes. I got on the bus with a really personable funny guy, and stayed on until French Quarter as it drove through a few older parts of town. He told an interesting story about Brad Pitt during dinner one day, and another about John Goodman. We finally arrived at French Quarter on Decatur Street in front of Jax Pub, and as we were departing the tour guide made a joke of not eating too many beignets from Café du Monde or you'd look like Charlie Sheen. He then informed us if we showed our transport ticket we'd get a discount buy one get one.

The next thing I did was get in line at Café du Monde since I was informed that there was a line. While waiting in line, I realized there were several middle school kids from a nearby parish since others came up to them. The first original group of primary school kids were standing in front of me, waiting in line when a second group approached them asking if they could just buy them what they wanted since they were towards the back of the to-go line. One of the girls from the second group handed the bigger African American girl some money, telling her to get her a bag of beignets. There was a smaller girl in the second group, who wanted some as well, but hadn't any money. The bigger girl started bullying the smaller girl, trying to intimidate her for asking her, and continually telling her to "get out of my face" when the girl was standing right next to me. Neither of the chaperons did anything to condone this girls behavior, but I appreciated that the younger girl stood her ground. Understandably enough, these girls would only have money from their parents since they're all so young. We then arrived to the beginning of the line, and the girls left after making their purchase. Once I made my way to the front after them, I asked the cashier about the buy one get one, showing her my ticket. She gave me a confused look and said they didn't do that she knew of. I then asked for two bags, and handed her the money, and instead of getting four bags I received two. From there, I looked around for the group of girls, whom I found about to cross Decatur Street going up Toulouse Street. Right before they crossed, I tapped the little girl on the shoulder that I had seen being bullied. I got down on her level, handed her the extra bag of beignets I had purchased, thanked her, and then walked off. I will admit I did it graciously, albeit it nearly gave me a heart attack.

Over the course of the next hour or so I walked around Jackson Square to get a few pictures. The one thing I noticed that the nice lady back at the visitor centre had mentioned was that there were a lot of street performers, who were only allowed to perform between 11AM and 6PM due to an ordinance. The main areas I wanted to visit were the Andrew Jackson Statue, and the St. Louis Cathedral. I took pictures of both, which I thoroughly enjoyed given their history. Before going into the cathedral I took several pictures of a bird cleaning himself off in the fountain between the statue and the cathedral for one of my favourite gals, who loves animals. My favourite part of the entire trip would have to be St. Louis Cathedral because of the amount of work that was put into the architecture and elaborate decorating of the cathedral. It really is a beautiful building, and being an Engineering major I would love to work on a such one someday soon.

After that, I visited a few shops and found several racks of postcards where I purchased two from. I visited the state visitor center, which was a bit more formal than the last. I had the gentleman running the desk if I was from Barcelona, which I told him I was from the United Kingdom. We spoke for a bit, and he informed me of the Jeanne d'Arc statue farther down Decatur street. I took several pictures of the statue from the middle of the street, and several detailed photographs. From there I walked back to the stop where we departed back for Basin street. While waiting for the transport to depart, I began writing the first postcard letter to my friend, Molly in Metairie, LA since I was unable to see her.

After arriving back at the car, we finally departed for the nearest post office. We ended up finding the post in Lafayette Square, where I shipped her package along with the New Orleans postcard for Molly, and the Texas postcard from New Orleans, LA to Aurora, CO.

We finally departed New Orleans for the final time, stopping at a McDonald's off of Interstate 510 before leaving Louisiana. I messaged Molly, informing her that both packages would arrive the next day, on Saturday. We then headed for Pensacola Beach, FL which we made in excellent time since it was so nearby.  After traveling through Mississippi and Alabama, we finally arrived in Florida where I took a picture of a state sign for the final time. We drove into Pensacola, heading towards the beach which was just over the bridge with a toll at the very end. The hotel which we had made a reservation for was the Spring Hill Suites Marriott  which really was a beautiful hotel right off of the beach. The difference with Pensacola Beach is that the entire land is surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico.

Since we arrived a bit more decent time, we went to go get food. The very first place we stopped was an outdoor restaurant with cars everywhere. The place we ended up stopping for dinner that night was Flounder's on Gulf Breeze Parkway, which was quite neatly themed since I found a ship called the "Pretty Molly" which I sent to my friend Molly. The rest of the night was spent catching up with my budget, and a few other things that I really needed to do.

The entire day consisted of 284 miles, taking approximately 4.5 hours from Baton Rouge, LA to Pensacola Beach, FL while making a stop in New Orleans's French Quarter.
